Abandoned Dog Tries To Find Herself A Family Again

When Hope For Paws got a text about an abandoned chihuahua, they knew they had to respond to the situation ASAP.

The little dog had been wandering around all alone in a Los Angeles neighborhood, and she refused to let anyone near her. It was clear the poor thing was terrified and wanting a safe space to call her own.

When rescuers arrived, they found the pup, who they named Sunny, outside of a house. She had wandered up to its porch but started to approach the rescuers when they walked up, as if she was looking for her family.

When they tried to get her close enough to leash, little Sunny darted back toward the porch.

They followed her up there, but rather than give in to being leashed, she darted into the house through the open door.

Thankfully, the homeowner was kind enough to let both the dog and rescuers into her residence.
Once they were all inside, they were able to slow their rescue efforts down and try to catch Sunny without causing her too much stress. At the least, she was safe now.

It took a little effort, but they finally got the leash around her and made their way back to the van with Sunny in tow.

They took the little dog back to the rescue to be examined by a veterinarian. Surprisingly, they didn’t find a microchip when scanning Sunny, but she appeared to be in good health. After she got a bath, Sunny really seemed to perk up and relax a bit. It wasn’t long before she was ready to go to her foster home.

While she seemed to adjust well to her life with her foster parents, Sunny quickly found a loving forever home. The perfect application came in and they knew it’d be a good fit.

As the rescuers noted in the video below, having a dog go into someone’s house during a rescue is “very unusual,” but it just goes to show that Sunny was ready to find a forever family.
