Recently, Brittney Benincasa came home to find a fawn lying by her pool soaking wet and thought the deer had accidentally fallen in to the water of her New Jersey home’s pool. But it turns out the young deer was actually beating the heat.
Brittney called animal control and kept an eye on the deer but was shocked by what the deer did next.
“What I thought was going to be a fall into the pool, was actually a step down into it,” Brittney told NJ.com. “Then she just started to pace back and forth near the jets, because she clearly liked the massage, that was very obvious. … And then she just stepped down again and started to swim laps around the pool, like she belonged there. Like she owned the place.”
Animal control helped guide the fawn out of the backyard, but the deer returned to Brittney’s pool for several days after that, squeezing through a gap in the fence and surprising the Freehold Township mom, who recorded the deer’s dips in the water.
Fortunately, the family’s pool is salt-based not chlorine based and for now, the family doesn’t mind the unusual guest enjoying their pool.
They figure the deer will soon be too big to squeeze through the fence.
