Man Grieving Loss Of Dog Goes To Shelter And Adopts All The Senior Dogs No One Wanted

Steve Greig is a kindhearted animal lover who has always had tons of pets in his Colorado home. Growing up, he had multiple pets in his house. And then, as an adult, he continued taking in animals in need.Sadly, one of Steve’s dogs passed away. This loss hit Steve particularly hard, and he wanted to do something to commemorate his pup.

Steve decided to head to his local shelter and ask for their “least adoptable” dog. He wanted to give this dog a chance at having a good life.
“So [I adopted] a 12-year-old Chihuahua [named Eeyore] with a heart murmur and four bad knees and I brought him home and that was just the beginning of all the animals,” Steve told The Dodo.

Steve now has 10 senior dogs living in his house. He has also started branching out and adopting more animals in need. He has taken in two pigeons and two ducks who needed a home. Steve also ended up adopting a pig named Bikini from a friend who wasn’t able to keep her.Steve was excited about the chance to take home a pet pig, and Bikini ended up fitting in well in his house!

The pig thinks she’s a dog, and she gets along especially well with Steve’s Irish Wolfhound, Enoch.

Steve has also taken in a rabbit who he found hopping around his front yard. The rabbit ended up being very relaxed and easygoing, and he got along well with all of the dogs.

Steve says that he loves adopting senior dogs—they’re all incredibly low-energy and well-behaved.
“They’re just wiser animals,” Steve said. “You kind of know what you want out of life once you become a certain age. These dogs know who they are and it’s easy to develop a relationship with a person or pet who knows who they are.”

Eventually, Steve decided to start an Instagram page to showcase photos of his “wolf gang.”
The page quickly racked up more and more followers—everyone loved seeing the wolf gang in action.

The page now has more than 800,000 followers. Steve is glad his page is showing people how great it can be to adopt senior animals.

“They just make it feel like home. It’s just fulfilling knowing that these guys are happy and loved and well-taken care of. It makes my days worthwhile,” Steve said.

Steve is doing a wonderful job providing homes for animals who can easily get overlooked. If you want to see more photos of Steve and his furry friends, head to their Instagram page.
